CNESCO (Centre National d'Etude des Systèmes Scolaires) - France

Since 1 September 2019, Cnesco (Centre National d'Etude des Systèmes Scolaires) has been attached to the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers (Cnam), within the 'Formation et apprentissages professionnels' (Foap) laboratory, through the creation of a chair in Evaluation of Public Education Policies, headed by Nathalie Mons.

Cnam's mission is to provide lifelong higher vocational training for people engaged in working life, in order to contribute to social promotion and professional mobility. Its three specific missions are lifelong higher vocational training, technological research and innovation, and the dissemination of scientific and technical culture.

Cnesco is in charge of performing an evaluation of the education which aims to develop a better knowledge of the academic world for the different stakeholders (pupils, parents, professionals of the National Education and other ministries related to the academic area, regional authorities…) as well as the general public.

Its main tasks are to produce, summarize and broadcast evaluations regarding the functioning and results of the school system in an international scope, and the methodologies used by evaluators.

Cnesco published, on 11 April 2109, the conclusions of the consensus conference on foreign languages. The complete dossier is available at https://www.cnesco.fr/fr/langues-vivantes-etrangeres-comment-mieux-accom....
The dossier includes the recommendations of the conference jury, as well as four scientific evaluation reports and all the experts' presentations and input.
