The Programme of the Slovak Presidency of the Council of the European Union is based on four priorities: an economically strong Europe, a modern single market, a sustainable migration and asylum policies and a globally engaged Europe.
The priority themes which will be at the forefront of the Slovak Presidency are driven by three interconnected principles: Achieving tangible results; overcoming fragmentation; focusing on the citizen.
In the field of education, the main focus is on fostering and developing talent, translating into increased competitiveness, enhanced social inclusion and the personal development of every individual.
The priorities of the Presidency in the field of education follow the objectives of the New Skills Agenda for Europe. As regards the negotiations on a Council Recommendations on establishing a skills guarantee, the Presidency aims to increase the level of adult education, including digital, entrepreneurial and transversal skills. In the context of the revision of the Recommendation on the European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong learning, the Presidency will focus on developing tools and services for skills and qualifications and on improving their comparability.
The Presidency will also address the modernization of higher education and digital skills.
The Presidency will prepare Council conclusions highlighting the role of education and youth work in preventing radicalisation and extremism, responding to the proposals of the Commission at encouraging inclusive education, developing social and civic skills and promoting European values through formal education and non-formal learning. http://www.eu2016.sk/en/programme-and-priorities/priorities-of-the-slova...
